Description: Santa Paula Creek flows through this picturesque park that is surrounded by rolling hills, rugged mountain peaks, citrus groves and avocado groves. The natural beauty of the terrain coupled with large mature shade trees make this a popular location for picnics, creek side camping, fishing, hiking, biking, or wilderness exploring. Bird watchers enjoy woodpeckers, raptors, warblers, kingleys, and vireos. A large aviary in the park houses a variety of common birds and peafowl. A small portion of Steckel Park is leased to a private party that manages a private the RV park. The campground north of the Santa Paula Creek is Ventura Ranch KOA, Reservations: (800) 562-1899.
