4-H is an exciting educational program for all youth ages 5 to 19. It is designed to provide knowledge, expertise and skills that will help youth develop into responsible, self-directed, and productive people. The 4-H club program in Ventura County is strong, with nearly 30 community clubs operated by more than 400 trained adult volunteers. Through the use of hands-on learning activities and with the guidance of the adult volunteer leaders, 4-H members involve themselves in a variety of activities. Fish on Your Dish, a newspaper supplement about local commercial fisheries written by kids for kids! The youth editorial board, the Fin-atic Reporters, fully submerged themselves into the world of commercial fisheries of the Santa Barbara Channel (SBC) region to produce this newspaper. Kids vs Global Warming is a non profit organization founded and led by Alec Loorz, who is now 14 years old. We are a group of kids that Educate other kids about the science of global warming and Empower them to take action.
Through educational presentations, community activism projects, multi-media, and leadership training, we empower youth to use their voice, and remind kids that WE MATTER! and there really is something we can do about global warming.
