Over the last several years the County of Ventura has adopted measures and policies to combat Global Warming and promote a better environment. The County and the Board of Supervisors are committed to conducting business with environmental responsibility in the forefront. Examples include:
Investing in energy efficient facilities projects
Purchasing highly fuel efficient and low emission vehicles
Reducing consumption of water, paper, chemicals and other materials
Aggressively recycling waste to minimize items going to the landfill
Provide funding for Gold Coast Transit, VISTA, Thousand Oaks Dial-A-Ride (senior and disabled), Oak Park Dial-A-Ride (general public), Harbor-Beaches Dial-A-Ride, and the Ojai Trolley
Constructs bus stop facilities, sells transit passes and distributes transit information in support of these systems
Member agency of the Ventura County Transportation Commission which funds Metrolink and inter-regional bus service
The County will continue to make measurable progress in maintaining environmental leadership while saving money for taxpayers.
