Over the last several years the County of Ventura has adopted measures and policies to combat Global Warming and promote a better environment. The County and the Board of Supervisors are committed to conducting business with environmental responsibility in the forefront. Examples include:

  • Investing in energy efficient facilities projects
  • Purchasing highly fuel efficient and low emission vehicles
  • Reducing consumption of water, paper, chemicals and other materials
  • Aggressively recycling waste to minimize items going to the landfill
  • Provide funding for Gold Coast Transit, VISTA, Thousand Oaks Dial-A-Ride (senior and disabled), Oak Park Dial-A-Ride (general public), Harbor-Beaches Dial-A-Ride, and the Ojai Trolley
  • Constructs bus stop facilities, sells transit passes and distributes transit information in support of these systems
  • Member agency of the Ventura County Transportation Commission which funds Metrolink and inter-regional bus service

The County will continue to make measurable progress in maintaining environmental leadership while saving money for taxpayers.
