County of Ventura Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Programs

  • Hazardous waste collection events are usually held on a monthly basis and require appointments. Check the "residents who may attend" column in the table below.

  • The Del Norte and Gold Coast Recycling facilities listed below take limited types of hazardous materials. Appointments are not required, but proof of city residency is. Please contact the facilities direct for additional information. Hours subject to change.

  • The Hazardous Waste Collection Events accept paints, solvents, cleaning products, lawn & garden products, photographic chemicals, oil, antifreeze, car and household batteries, light tubes, mercury thermostats, mercury containing products, and more. Some accept electronic wastes. Call the phone numbers listed for each event for more information or questions regarding particular items.

  • Used motor oil and filters can be recycled at over 85 Certified Used Oil Collection Centers in Ventura County. These do not require appointments and are often more convenient than the monthly Hazardous Waste Collection Events. Certified Centers will pay a small amount per gallon for used oil at your request.

  • All programs are free to the public but please use the Certified Centers and Recycling facilities when possible to help reduce operating costs for the cities and the county.

  • Several household hazardous waste programs offer FREE latex paint or FREE reusable products.

  • Events with an asterisk (*) also have low cost collection programs for businesses that qualify as Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators. Call the appointment line number for details(businesses in Ojai, Fillmore, Santa Paula, or the Unincorporated Areas should contact Clean Harbors direct at 805/987-0717).

  • For general information about HHW and recycling programs offered in Ventura County, call 805/658-4321.
