Coalitions and Community Initiatives
The Human Services Agency recognizes that collaboration is essential to delivering effective services, and participates in a number of collaborative partnerships and initiatives to fulfill our mission to the community. These include:

  • The Partnership For Safe Families & Communities of Ventura County - A violence prevention collaborative comprised of more than fifty organizations and institutions representing public, non-profit and community members engaged in addressing violence across the lifespan, including domestic violence, child abuse, gang violence and adult abuse.  The Partnership also serves as the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council.

  • Oxnard Alliance for Community Strength - The ALLIANCE is a gang violence prevention and youth development collaborative between the City of Oxnard and the County of Ventura (Human Services Agency, and Probation Agency). Co-chaired by Oxnard Mayor Tom Holden and Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long, the ALLIANCE includes representatives of public and private agencies, faith-based organizations, schools, law-enforcement, community-based organizations and individuals committed to addressing community violence in Oxnard.

  • Ventura County Together - A coalition of non-profit organizations and public agencies focused on the growing demand for basic need services of food, shelter, and health. Led by the United Way, Ventura County Community Foundation, First 5 and the Community Commission of Ventura County, it includes over 30 participating organizations who share a common concern about the increase in demand for services and a willingness to work together to address it.

  • Ventura County Homeless and Housing Coalition - The lead planning entity for homeless assistance, the Ventura County Homeless and Housing Coalition functions countywide to address the needs of homeless individuals, those at risk of becoming homeless, and those in need of low income housing. The VCHHC does not provide direct services.

  • Financial Empowerment Partnership - Led by the United Way, the Internal Revenue Service, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation, and the Human Services Agency, the partnership operates Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites across the county each year, to assist eligible low-income families with tax return preparation and securing valuable tax credits such as the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

  • Community Commission for Ventura County (CCVC) - A county-wide collaborative focused on coordinating efforts to improve services for children and families.  It’s broad-based representation includes school districts, cities, county agencies and boards, community-based nonprofits, local businesses, and private residents.  The CCVC is the designated HUD Inter-Agency Council to End Homeless in support of the 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness in Ventura County.

Community Partners
The Human Services Agency contracts with community partner agencies who provide critical programs and services to clients and community members that extend far beyond those the agency can offer on its own.
