Standing Committees

Executive Committee
Members of the Executive Committee include the WIB Chair, WIB Vice Chair, WIB Immediate Past Chair, and the Chairs of the standing committees. The Executive Committee provides financial oversight and is authorized to take actions on behalf of the WIB when time sensitive correspondence or the approvals of compliance documents are required before the next regularly scheduled meeting of the WIB.  Any such actions will be reported to the WIB at its next regularly scheduled meeting.

Evaluation Committee
The purpose of the Evaluation Committee is to establish and review relevant measures and indicators of performance that focus on Employer and Job-Seeker Customer Satisfaction, One-Stop System performance, youth and adult employment and training activities, and specific business services.

Marketing and Business Outreach Committee
The purpose of the Marketing and Business Outreach Committee is to increase public awareness and promote the use of services offered under the auspices of the WIB.  The primary target of the Committee’s community outreach is local business and industry, but also includes the promotion of marketing strategies to inform and attract clients to youth, adult, and dislocated worker services and to the local One-Stop Job & Career Center System.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for WIB member recruitment, developing strategies for WIB member development, recommending replacement of members, reviewing records of WIB member meeting attendance, and ensuring the proper implementation and consistency with the membership provision of the Workforce Investment Act.

Resource Planning Committee
The Resource Planning Committee focuses on identifying and engaging forward thinking community and educational leaders in partnerships to promote systemic change, diversified funding, and program development.

Youth Council
The purpose of the Youth Council is to identify multiple options for improving educational and skill competencies and for making effective connections to employers for youth.  The Youth Council promotes linkages between academic and occupational learning, ongoing mentorship with adults, and opportunities related to leadership, decision-making, citizenship and community service.

Ad Hoc Committees

Allied Health
The Allied Health Committee develops plans to align allied health business leaders for development of a collaborative workforce pipeline and a ready, reliable, local talent pool. Work includes identification/commitment of WIA and non-WIA resources to help close pipeline gaps. Key partners for this committee are hospital and health care system representatives, community colleges, universities, K-adult education, and labor representatives.

Applied Basic Skills for Technology-Related Jobs
The initial focus of this committee is on the engagement of manufacturing employers for the development of a work-ready talent pool in Ventura County.  Key partners for this committee are representatives from small/mid-size/ large businesses, community colleges, universities, K-adult education, labor representatives, and community service groups.

Clean/Green Workforce

Identify an initial focus that is strategic, business demand-driven, and achievable.  Engage employers as partners in a collaborative initiative. Identify clean/green-related jobs in Ventura County that will be in high demand with employers, offer a living wage, and provide career path opportunities through 2020 and beyond. Outline a plan for clean/green employers and providers of education/training to collaborate in the development of a ready, reliable, local talent pool. Provide input to the WIB Resource Planning Committee for the discussion of WIA and non-WIA funding options and strategies.
