Ventura County Supervisor, District 4
Peter C. Foy was sworn into office as Ventura County Supervisor of District 4 in January 2007. As one of five supervisors in the county, his district includes Simi Valley, Moorpark, Somis, Las Posas Valley, Santa Susana Knolls, Box Canyon, Chatsworth Peak, Home Acres, Sinaloa Lake, and Tierra Rejada Valley.
A 24-year resident of Simi Valley, Supervisor Foy stepped into the public service arena to better address the community's issues and concerns. Unlike career politicians, the supervisor brings more than 30-years of corporate business experience and strategies to the government arena. In the business community, he is best known for innovative and integrated solutions, helping employers provide top line health insurance benefits to thousands of local employees.
In the short time he has been in office, Supervisor Foy has begun work to resolve issues in a way that preserves yet advances the community he and his constituents cherish. Supervisor Foy is committed to fully funding public safety and believes the first job of local government is to make sure citizens are safe anywhere in the county. During his first few weeks in office, Supervisor Foy formed the Highway 118 Safety Task Force in order to develop innovative strategies that will reduce deaths, injuries and traffic congestion associated with increased use of the highway. His other priorities include fiscal accountability for local government to ensure the proper use of taxpayer dollars, ethics reform via term limits and stricter rules on public officials and lobbyist relationships, as well as illegal immigration.
Supervisor Foy’s appointments to county government boards, commissions and committees include the Air Pollution Control Board, County Finance Committee, County Medical Oversight Subcommittee, Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County (EDC VC), Information Technology Committee, Regional Defense Partnership - 21st Century (RDP-21), Retirement Association Board, Treasury Investment Oversight Committee, and the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC).
An innovative entrepreneur, Supervisor Foy is also the founder, president and chief executive officer of Peter C. Foy & Associates, a leading insurance brokerage and consulting firm in Woodland Hills, California. Through his leadership, Supervisor Foy has attracted experienced, ethical professionals who are committed to delivering integrated business solutions to organizations throughout the United States. Prior to forming Peter C. Foy & Associates, he served as a vice president at Sedgwick James, the world’s third largest brokerage firm.
Supervisor Foy has lived in Simi Valley with his wife, Tara and their four children since 1984. A charitable humanitarian, Foy has always been involved with community and youth organizations. In 2001, he created the Peter C. Foy Foundation to help underprivileged, abused and neglected children. Last year alone the Foy Toy Drive provided nearly 16,000 toys to children in Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Kern and San Joaquin counties during the holiday season. Supervisor Foy is also a member numerous boards and committees including the Ventura County Chapter of Boy Scouts of America.
