Pest Detection

The Agricultural Commissioner oversees the Pest Detection Program, which is responsible for the early detection of various insect pests which are not presently established within the State of California or the County of Ventura but which are known to be a threat to agriculture, forest industries, and the environment. The program is currently administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture with headquarters in Camarillo.

Pest Detection
Over 3000 traps are monitored weekly to keep injurious insects such as the Mediterranean Fruit Fly from entering from outside sources.
