Pest Exclusion

Pest exclusion is the first line of defense against invasion by exotic pests. Incoming commercial and private shipments of plant material are subject to inspection for compliance with plant import restrictions. Infested or prohibited shipments are subject to regulatory action.

Plant quarantines protect the industry by excluding plant pests by utilizing thorough inspection and certification at origin and at destination.

Commodities are also inspected at origin (Ventura County) and certified for shipment to other states and foreign countries.

Plant Quarantines protect the industry and the public through both destination and origin inspections to insure that commodities are free from injurious insects, nematodes and diseases.
