Environmental Review & CEQA
CEQA is the acronym for the California Environmental Quality Act. If a proposed facility or project poses a significant environmental impact (due to the size or nature of the project or its proposed location) it may be subject to other environmental laws which require a more thorough examination of the proposal's environmental impact.
Discretionary Permits require approval from a decision making authority (Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, Planning Director); an Environmental Review for potential impacts; and usually a public hearing.
The Ventura County Integrated Waste Management Division (IWMD) conditions residential and commercial projects in the unincorporated area to recycle all materials on the Director's List of Recyclables (available on this page) and to recycle the materials generated during the demolition or construction phases of a proposed project. The project recycling information is transmitted by the required Form B (the recycling plan) and Form C (the report and receipts of what material was recycled). The Environmental Review section interfaces with the applicant, tracks their compliance via the submitted forms and receipts, and works directly with the Case Planner on the applicant’s behalf.
The Environmental Review section supplies the applicant with all of the materials necessary to comply with the conditions placed on the project. Forms are available on this website and may be downloaded and either e-mailed, faxed, or delivered to IWMD offices.
